Complete removal of a conifer hedge and replaced with laurels

Replacing this old conifer hedge transformed this garden. The conifers had outgrown its space and became a little overwhelming for our client, so the decision was made to remove it completely and replace with a much more manageable laurel hedge. In total, 24 Laurels were planted and once fully grown, the aesthetic appeal of them will be worth the temporary loss in privacy.

To finish the project and boost initial growth, wood chip was laid beneath the laurels as this retains moisture, suppresses weed growth, and adds vital nutrients as it breaks down. Decorative gravel was then put down between the hedge and the driveway to fill the void neatly, and it provides a nice contrast in colour against the vibrant laurels. Overall, this project has revitalised this front garden and with regular maintenance over the years ahead, the new hedge will provide the perfect boundary.
